Fairbanks Distilling Company received great news from Alaska State Senator Click Bishop’s office. SB9, Alaska’s long awaited alcohol modernization bill that is sponsored by Senator Micciche was passed by the Senate and now moves to the House. Over the last year I have been working to get verbiage added into SB9 to allow DtC (Direct to Consumer shipping) through Senator Bishop’s office. I am pleased to report that language in the bill has been modified to include DtC shipping by distilleries and breweries. This will open up a new market for Alaska’s distilleries that did not exist before. It will allow our manufacturing facilities to sell our products via approved secure delivery companies, such as FedEx & UPS to legal age Alaska state residents that live in wet areas of the state and might not live near a store that carries our products. This would not have been possible without the assistance of Senators Micciche, Bishop and his Legislative Aide, Erin Shine, and their support of Alaska small businesses. SB9 has just moved out of the Senate and into the House. Please contact your legislators and request they support this bill.
